A little less than a month remains until the twelfth edition of the FIG WCC Osijek, to which numerous competitors from all over Europe and the world have applied this year as well. The finals of the competition will be held on June 12th and 13th in the sports arena Gradski vrt in Osijek, and it will be broadcast live on Croatian television.
Preparations for the FIG WCC Osijek are in full swing and although the organization itself is slightly different from last year due to the epidemiological situation, Osijek will once again host the best gymnasts in the world. Over 150 competitors from about 30 gymnastics Federations are expected to perform, which shows that gymnasts are eager to perform at sports events of the highest rank.
Numerous sports competitions have been canceled over the past and this year and many gymnasts have not had a chance to test their form, so the realization of this year’s DOBRO World Cup is a great opportunity to test it before the Olympics in Tokyo.
Marijo Možnik, President of the Croatian Gymnastics Federation, is looking forward to welcoming numerous gymnastic delegations for the first time in the role of the leading man of Croatian gymnastics and wishing them sports luck.
“We have before us the 12th edition of the DOBRO World Cup Osijek where a large number of top gymnasts will perform because this is one of the most important competitions before the Tokyo Olympics where athletes will test their form. Of course, there will also be Croatia’s best representatives. From the contestants, Olympian Ana Đerek will compete, then Sara Šulekić, Christina Zwicker, Tijana Korent, and from the competitors, led by our Olympian Tin Srbić, the essence Robert Seligman, Filip Ude, Aurel Benović and Filip Boroša will also be present. Last year this competition, unfortunately, had to be canceled due to a pandemic, but here it is this year over 150 top athletes are expected to arrive which shows that they are wanted competitions, that they love this competition, that they like to come to Osijek, to Croatia and we believe that It will feel great here again this year. ”
The epidemiological situation in Croatia and the world is calming down a bit, so it is excellent information that the DOBRO World Cup in Osijek will successfully host many delegations from Europe and the world. “Although no event was held last year due to a pandemic caused by the spread of the virus COVID – 19, this year all indications are that we will have great competition here in Osijek and we are extremely happy about that. We will monitor all epidemiological measures and standards for the safety of all involved. Also, we hope that the epidemiological situation allows us to have spectators in the hall because that is what it “carries” in the final performances and our representatives, but also all other competitors, but if this is not possible, transfer the finals will certainly be available on HRT. Everyone is impatient and we are really looking forward to this year’s, twelfth edition, the DOBRO World Cup! ”, he pointed out at the very end is Mario Vukoja, sports director of the event.
